Wonderful world premiere performance last evening [Sunday, November 9, 2014] of my new piece, BREATHLESS, for flute, orchestra and electronics with the Bemidji Symphony Orchestra. Splendid, virtuosic, sensitive performance by flautist (and old friend) Carol Wincenc and spirited and intelligent conducting by Beverly Everett. The orchestra rose to the occasion. Electronics – selected and presided over by MIT’s Ben Bloomberg – sounded great, and we were able to perform the piece TWICE, with a bit of introduction by me before and between. Very warm response (in this freezing corner of the world) from the audience, and lovely reception afterwards…feel gratified and grateful.
