Wow! What an invigorating and wonderful experience to hear Tod and eight musicians from the Toronto Symphony Orchestra get up on the ideacity stage on Thursday and perform brand-new music, created as the cornerstone for the Concerto for Composer and Orchestra. As Tod explained to the ideacity audience, he composed a chord progression one week ago, which he emailed to the orchestra players. A few days later, they sent back individual compositions based on the chords, and Tod had to figure out how to weave them into an interesting, coherent piece of music. We’ll post some video of the results soon. In the meantime, here’s a photo of Tod rehearsing “Launch Music”.
