Just back from a couple of days in Detroit for the next installment of workshops, meetings, presentations, and generally-intense-and-beautiful-experiences that are all part of the crazy mix that will become SYMPHONY IN D with the Detroit Symphony in November (2015). What a powerful city, full of vivid and passionate people, architectural richness as well as decay, talent everywhere, and edgy sound – the musical, the everyday, and the extraordinary – bursting with energy and potential. It is such a privilege to spend time in Detroit, which is starting to feel very much like a second home.
